MARZ = Media Arts Resource Zone
The MARZ Project provides Humboldt and Del Norte county youth ages 12 to 26 with the tools to help them express themselves. Whether students are interested in digital arts, audio production, music, animation, video, or anything in between, we do our best to offer facilities and mentorship opportunities to bring their creative vision to life. All MARZ students have FREE access to our full array of equipment, software, and training to aid them in their artistic expression!
All services of the MARZ Project are FREE - the only limitation is your imagination.
MARZ provides opportunities for youth to work one on one with professionals in specific media trades. Anyone in the age range can utilize the equipment and expertise to create projects of their own design including, but not limited to, digital arts, music, and film/video production. Our professional media makers have been trained, not only in how to teach their skills to this age group but also in how to effectively mentor teens and young adults.
In addition to one on one instruction and group activities, MARZ offers a series of workshops and on-the-job training opportunities!
MEET THE MARZ MENTORS
Cory Goldman (Music Mentor)
I’m a musician, producer, and engineer from Portland, Oregon. I’ve lived in Humboldt for almost a decade now and worked as a mentor with the MARZ project for most of that time. My creative life includes playing old-time fiddle tunes for square dances, playing lead guitar in a rock band, producing and engineering music for other artists, scoring animation, and making my own psych-noise-pop influenced music under the name Bumblecrow.
Jay Tilghman (Video Mentor)
With close to five years of experience as a mentor with the MARZ project, I have developed a passion for fostering creative talent and encouraging artistic expression. As a skilled digital artist, I specialize in creative storytelling and filmmaking. My commitment to mentoring and teaching has allowed me to make a meaningful impact in the lives of my students, and my passion for art continues to drive my work as a digital artist.
