When did you first figure out that art was important to you?

When I was in high school spending all my free time in ceramics class making a lady bug slab box that went on to win a district wide competition.

Who is your art mentor?

I so grateful for all the teachers in my life. Especially my ceramic teachers, Emmy Wang, Patrick Crabb, and Keith Schneider for all their faith, guidance and support for my work.

Life! Art is life, life is art. We are all here because of creativity and imagination. It is intrinsic to us. I am a strong advocate for adding Art into school curriculum, creating STEAM for our future.

What advice would you offer someone just beginning their exploration of their own artistic self?

Congratulate yourself for being so gutsy! It takes a lot of courage to be an artist. You might be feeling scared, but that's the best part. It's the thrill that makes you feel alive. Give yourself credit for following your passion and keep making art everyday.
