Dance Ink Day was a great success, closed out Ink Week, and brought together a huge variety of dance styles and performances all thanks to our generous volunteers and especially to Stephanie Silvia for coordinating everything and being the driving force behind the unique fundraiser! Located at 47B West 3rd St. It is the former Empire Squared space that will house the Ink People gallery, Placebo, Humboldt Grassroots, MARZ showcases, the print making presses, Liberation Sound Clash, and the DIY Resource Center. Come check it out and learn more on Saturday!
Ascend Summit, Feb 11th

Feb 11th will be the Ascend Summit the Ink People has been helping put together. Ascend will take place at the Kate Buchanan Room at HSU. The day will be filled with Keynote Speaker Flo Green, twelve energizing discussions lead by local arts leaders in the categories of Community Building and Social Change, Art as Business, Self-care, and Networking and Marketing, and an Artist in Residence presentation.
In 2011, The Ink People began a focused effort to enhance leadership skills amongst our community's Next Generation arts leaders, defined as 18-35 years old. A working group of NextGen and experienced arts leaders, called the Circle of Emerging Leaders (CEL), has been meeting since July figuring out how best to provide resources and skills training. Ascend is put on by the newly formed CEL. All proceeds from this event go to supporting our art, cultural, and service programs. Tickets are a sliding scale of just $10-$25 with no one turned away.

Everyone at the Ink People would like to wish Lynn Lowman well on her next endeavors as she continues on from the Ink People. Lowman was our Gallery Coordinator and put together many successful exhibitions and even had some of her own wonderful pieces included. We value all the work she put into the Ink People and look forward to what she creatively does next.
